Dagas is a Rare Blade in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. He uses the Fire element, wields a Greataxe, and fills the Attacker role. His arrogant personality makes him stand out among the party’s Blades, but his real value comes from how much power he can provide to every active member of the team.

He can bond with Rex, Nia, Zeke, or Mòrag. Because Dagas is not locked to one Driver, you can place him where his Greataxe Arts and party support fit your current team. Zeke is a natural offensive choice, while Mòrag can keep Dagas active as a support Blade without needing to swap through frequent combo rotations.

Dagas is obtained through the normal Core Crystal bonding system. Because Rare Blade bonding is random, there is no fixed location where you can simply pick him up. Keep bonding Core Crystals as you progress, and check every Driver’s Blade roster before releasing or transferring Blades.

His transformation is tied to the Blade Quest Lost Kingdom. The quest begins at Midorl Bridge in Mor Ardain during the evening. Dagas asks the party to investigate the lost kingdom he believes he once ruled. Completing the quest reveals the truth behind Regideria and unlocks his stronger, awakened Affinity Chart.

Dagas’s Affinity Chart contains three Battle Skills: Gold Effect, Regal Presence, and Kaiser Zone. Gold Effect increases enemy gold drops, while Regal Presence increases Blade Combo damage. Both are useful in specific situations, but Kaiser Zone is the reason Dagas remains valuable in high-level content.

At maximum affinity, awakened Kaiser Zone increases the damage and area of effect of party attacks by up to 120%. The damage increase improves every Blade in the party, and the expanded area can let attacks reach enemies that would normally stand outside their range. This is especially useful in battles with several powerful targets.

Dagas’s Specials provide different tools rather than one perfectly consistent sequence. Flame Crown is his first Special and is most notable for its bonus against aquatic enemies. Tyrant Crush is a stronger physical option with improved critical damage. Kaiser Flare deals Ether damage and can benefit from critical-hit investment, although its low-health bonus is situational.

His Level 4 Special, Blazing Conquest, is generally the most attractive offensive Special. It has strong damage, a critical modifier, and extra value against toppled enemies. When combined with Regal Presence and a Fusion Combo, it can contribute meaningful damage instead of acting only as a passive support option.

The best Dagas setup depends on whether you want him to support the entire party or deal damage directly. Support builds prioritize survival and maximum affinity, because Kaiser Zone only reaches its strongest effect when Dagas is at max affinity. Offensive builds add critical damage, Art Recharge, and attack-focused Aux Cores.

A Greataxe Chip with a critical-damage bonus is a strong general choice for direct damage. A critical-rate-focused Chip can also work when your accessories and Aux Cores do not already provide enough critical chance. The correct choice depends on the rest of your equipment rather than on Dagas alone.

Recommended Accessories and Aux Cores

For an offensive build, use critical-damage accessories and Aux Cores that improve Art damage or recharge. Crimson Headband is a strong option when you want to amplify critical hits. Noise Dampener can improve the output of powerful Greataxe Arts, especially when Dagas is paired with a Driver who can exploit high-damage physical Arts.

For a support build, survival is more important than squeezing out every personal damage point. An accessory such as Avant-Garde Medal can help Dagas remain active, while Critical Symbols, Burst Symbols, or a Rainbow Belt can support different party compositions.

Choosing a Driver

Zeke is usually the most natural Driver for a damage-oriented Dagas because Greataxe Arts benefit from his offensive playstyle. Rex and Nia can also use Dagas, particularly when you need Fire access for a Blade Combo route. Mòrag is useful when you want Dagas present for Kaiser Zone while keeping the rest of the team’s Blade rotations stable.

Dagas works best when you decide his role before the battle begins. If the party already has enough Fire coverage, keep him available for Kaiser Zone and use his Arts to maintain affinity. If you are building around Fusion Combos, pair his Blade Combo damage bonus with a reliable setup Blade and a Driver Combo that can apply Topple.

His Level 4 Special is particularly effective after an enemy has been toppled. A practical sequence is to prepare the Blade Combo, apply the required status effect, trigger the Topple, and then use Blazing Conquest while the target remains vulnerable. The result can create a strong damage-over-time effect without requiring Dagas to carry the entire encounter himself.

In multi-target battles, stay aware of enemy spacing. Kaiser Zone’s area increase is most valuable when several targets can be hit at once. Position the party so Arts with area damage overlap the group rather than striking one enemy from the edge of the encounter.

Dagas is one of the most specialized Rare Blades in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. His value is not limited to his personal attack numbers: the awakened Kaiser Zone can improve the entire party, while Regal Presence supports high-damage Blade Combo routes.
